Abstract
⺠This study showed that albendazole induces apoptosis in the bovine filarial worm Setaria cervi. ⺠In vitro ABZ treatment leads to a dose-dependent gradual reduction in worm viability. ⺠DNA fragmentation and condensed chromatin were evident from the results. ⺠In future, apoptotic pathways in filarial parasites will help in developing a new class of antifilarial drugs.
