Abstract
Rapid growth in the market for reverse osmosis membranes led German based Lanxess Group to add a manufacturing operation to its existing monodisperse ion exchange resin facilities near Berlin in 2011. It set goals of achieving highly automated production, applying the company's many years of experience in polymerisation processes. This led to the concept of highly crosslinked polyamide membranes which have proved a major success.
