Abstract
In the oil and gas industry, activated carbon is used in many applications, both as an adsorbent or as a support media for chemical reagents. It is commonly used in amine units for H2S and CO2 removal from hydrocarbon steams. Activated carbon removes contaminants from the amine solvent, reducing foaming problems. Here we focus on the contact times and amounts of activated carbon affecting contaminated methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) amine solutions.
