Abstract
► We examined the effects of monsoons, nitrogen, and disturbance on Larrea tridentata. ► Summer monsoons increased Larrea growth in dry but not wet years. ► Nitrogen deposition and soil disturbance generally did not alter Larrea growth. ► Mammalian herbivory increased with monsoons and nitrogen. ► Biomass loss by mammalian herbivores may negate positive Larrea growth responses.
