Abstract
⺠We analyzed the hierarchical structure of vegetation on a Mojave Desert landscape. ⺠By a coarse, six-group level, four generalized community types were evident. ⺠Indicator species analysis did not identify an optimal community classification level. ⺠Environmental variables differed in their relationships to the vegetation hierarchy.
