Abstract
⺠Dispersed crude oil is rapidly and extensively biodegraded in natural seawater. ⺠This occurs without the need for added nutrients or bacteria. ⺠This biodegradation extends to all resolvable classes of hydrocarbons except the hopanes. ⺠The approximate biodegradation half-life is 11-14 d.
