Abstract
⺠A novel comprehensive analytical method was applied to sediments in an enclosed bay. ⺠184 out of approximately 900 organic chemicals were found. ⺠The density and biomass of benthic animals in the bay were quantified. ⺠PAHs and metals had concentrations higher than the sediment quality guidelines. ⺠Some contaminants seem to have an adverse effect on benthic animals. ⺠This comprehensive analytical method is a useful tool for environmental surveys.
