Abstract
⺠Chironomus midges are exposed to low tributyltin doses over multiple generations. ⺠Strains with low genetic diversity show severe inbreeding depression. ⺠Increasing genetic diversity rapidly restores population fitness. ⺠New evidence for the importance of considering genetic diversity in ecotoxicology.
