Abstract
► Rhodobacter sphaeroides showed high remediation efficiency of Cd-contaminated soil. ► Phytoavailability of Cd decreased by R. sphaeroides. ► Cd speciation in soil changed dramatically - the exchangeable phases decreased. ► Remediation was carried out through the conversion of Cd to more stable forms.
