Abstract
⺠Hg content of flatfish depends on the species, tissue, sex, length, food and region. ⺠Muscle tissue of Baltic turbot (Scophthalmus maximus) had a high affinity for Hg. ⺠Baltic turbot, most accurately reflects the level of Hg in environment. ⺠Baltic turbot an important a suitable and cost-effective bioindicator of Hg. ⺠BF and BMF indicated that flatfish accumulate Hg from water, sediments, and food.
