Abstract
► We examine Scrobicularia plana from the Hg contaminated areas. ► Scrobicularia plana reflects higher haemolymph Hg concentrations resulting immunosuppression. ► Immunosuppression was a result of Hg direct contact involving no ROS intervention. ► The oxidative burst was concomitantly associated to haemocytes/plasma LPO increase.
