Abstract
⺠We studied associations between long-term exposure to volatile organic compounds and mortality. ⺠The study was a population-based cohort of Toronto adults followed for up to 22 years. ⺠We used land-use regression estimates of benzene, total hydrocarbons and n-hexane. ⺠Benzene and total hydrocarbons were positively associated with cancer mortality. ⺠VOCs did not confound associations between NO2 and cardiovascular mortality.
