Abstract
⺠Missing values in multivariate data sets must be substituted prior to analysis. ⺠The substituted values can modify the structure of the data set. ⺠We developed a method to estimate the magnitude of the alterations. ⺠The method is simple and based on the Mantel test. ⺠The method allowed the identification of problematic variables in a sample data set.
