Abstract
⺠We examine vehicle emissions in 22 Chinese cities of different types and locations. ⺠Vehicle emission factors of the cities differ by 50-90% due to distinct local features. ⺠Each vehicle type contributes differently to total emissions among the cities. ⺠A substantial increase in vehicle emissions in most Chinese cities is foreseeable. ⺠City-specific fleet and local features are important in research and policy making.
