Abstract
⺠The effect of Hg-associated dental amalgam fillings on renal and oxidative stress biomarkers in children was tested. ⺠Only urinary NAG was significantly affected by UHg-C (μg/g creatinine) and the presence of dental amalgam fillings. ⺠Though urinary 8-OHdG was positively influenced by UHg-C, it was higher in children without dental amalgams than those with. ⺠Low Hg exposure from dental amalgam exerts an effect on kidney tubular functions in children. ⺠Oxidative stress may have played a role in this mechanism.
