Abstract
⺠Soil solution inorganic nitrogen (N) concentrations vary along a single hillslope. ⺠The main controls were nutrient demand and hydrology. ⺠Net mineralization resulted in elevated NH4+ concentration in one habitat. ⺠Results support soil carbon as an indicator of inorganic N leaching potential.
