Abstract
⺠Aerosol sources and influence of meteorology on aerosol development in the surface layer at Pune, India, are investigated. ⺠Major source for Ca2+ is soil, for SO42â is industries, for NO3â is vehicles and for NH4+ is animal and human excretion. ⺠The NH4NO3 molecules are formed through neutralization of HNO3 by NH3 gas on coarse soil particles. ⺠Seasonal variation in the concentration of aerosol chemical constituents is controlled by seasonally distinct factors. ⺠Major factors influencing aerosol development at Pune are convection, rainfall activity and temperature inversion.
