Abstract
⺠The different methodologies of ecological risk assessment have been identified. ⺠The approaches used for carrying out each of their stages have been studied. ⺠The advantages and limitations of these options are discussed. ⺠Elements for formulating any new method adapted to a given scenario are provided. ⺠Research works to which priority should be given are identified.
