Abstract
This study examines the association of SSTs and circulation parameters with mid-tropospheric CO2 retrieved by AIRS over the Indian region. The NINO4 region exhibits positive influence on the variability of CO2 almost during the entire year except for the post-monsoon/winter months (October through December; OND). A higher temperature during the pre-monsoon season further facilitates significant convective activity and strong vertical motions lead to greater uplift of CO2 concentrations from surface to the mid-troposphere which is detectable by the AIRS satellite.155
