Abstract

The effect of magnetic field on the solubility of magnetic membranes is investigated. As a result, a conclusion is drawn that the solubility is not altered on the gas–polymer interface but may be altered to a significant degree in the vicinity of the, so-called, magnetic channels that form close to the magnetic particles suspended in the polymer matrix.

•Energetic and entropic contributions to the solubility are carefully evaluated.•The effect of the magnetic field on the solubility in the magnetic membrane bulk turns out negligible.•The role of the solubility effect in the magnetic channel turns out to be significant.
