Products and mechanism of the reaction of Cl atoms with unsaturated alcohols

► Atmospheric degradation of different unsaturated alcohols with Cl atoms is investigated using smog chamber/GC techniques. ► The identified and quantified gas-phase products were mainly carbonyl compounds. ► The addition of Cl to the double bond of the unsaturated alcohol is the dominant reaction pathway. ► The H-abstraction channel cannot be excluded.
