Abstract
► We study public interest and understanding of Austrian media weather reports. ► People use the media very selective with TV, radio, and internet as their first choices. ► Radio weather messages are more difficult to understand and recall than TV reports. ► The audience wants weather elements to appear always in the same sequence. ► The most important elements are tomorrow temperatures, weather map, and warnings.
