Abstract
► Convective days are identified by lightning data during warm seasons 2006-2009. ► Frequency, distribution and inter-month variability of convective days are determined. ► Convectively most active region, onset and ending times of convection are estimated. ► Dominant large-scale weather types in convectively active days are determined. ► Southwesterly upper-level flow is the most common flow regime in convective days.
