Abstract
► We performed MD simulations of POPE lipid bilayer with or without ions. ► We propose the mechanism of how cation changes membrane dynamics. ► Membrane fluidity is not affected by cation-lipid interactions. ► The role of cation is dehydration of lipid molecules. ► The dehydration plays an important role in reducing membrane fluidity.
