Evaluation of sampling techniques for detection and quantification of airborne legionellae at biological aeration basins and shower rooms

► Samplers are assessed at shower rooms and aeration basins for legionellae collection. ► BioSampler obtains the highest detection rate for culturable legionellae in air. ► IOM and cassette samplers show a greater efficiency for total and viable legionellae. ► MAS-100/L sampler is the least efficient in recovering total and viable legionellae. ► Viability percentage is not affected by sampler type and sampling time.
