Abstract
Research shows that the distribution of elements in tailings is uneven and that the complex distribution regularities are mainly controlled by gravitational separation, features of selected raw ores and beneficiation technology. By establishing a three-dimensional (3D) model for elements in tailings dams, distribution regularities and combination features of elements can be directly determined, and the amount of useful elements in tailings dams can be quantitatively evaluated. An evaluation shows that metals in most tailings dams have potential recycle value and that the resource amount of ore-forming and scattered metal elements is considerable.
