Abstract
► Shipborne radiometer data are used to validate satellite SST data from AATSR. ► Over 1500 coincident data pairs are used from the Bay of Biscay region. ► Satellite-ship differences are less than 0.1±0.3K (night) and 0.1±0.4K (day). ► The 5 year span of in situ data confirms the stability of the AATSR sensor.
