Abstract
Palcu et al. (2015) dated the Badenian-Sarmatian Extinction Event (BSEE) in the Tisa Valley section in Romania based on microfossils and magnetostratigraphy, concluding that there is no evidence of sea level change around the BSEE. In our short comment we show that the sampling resolution and the sample preparation method was not suitable to properly constrain the position of the BSEE in the exposure, and some conclusions are questionable. Additionally we propose an alternative interpretation of the foraminiferal assemblages recovered at the Tisa section.
