Abstract
⺠A synthesized drought index (SDI) integrating MODIS and TRMM data is proposed. ⺠A heavy drought process was explored using SDI in Shandong province, China. ⺠The accuracy of SDI was validated using meteorological and agricultural data. ⺠Precipitation, soil and vegetation should be considered in drought monitoring.
