Abstract
⺠Presents model of influence of surface roughness on flux through membranes. ⺠Lateral diffusion through the thin region and vertical face are examined separately. ⺠Geometry defines whether flux increases by more or less than surface area increase. ⺠Membranes with the same surface roughness can have different surface areas and fluxes. ⺠Model calculations show trends consistent with experimental work.
