Abstract
⺠New insights into the controls on spatial patterns of modern lake sediments ⺠Indicates dominant control of depth on geochemistry and sedimentology ⺠Sediment proxies differ in their relationships with depth. ⺠These differences need to be considered in the interpretation of downcore records. ⺠Century scale climate variability dominates the last 2 millennia in West Africa.
