Abstract
⺠We present a Langhian tropical shallow-water carbonate platform of the Vienna Basin. ⺠The platform reflects the northern edge of the Langhian Peri-Mediterranean reef belt. ⺠Water turbidity acted as ecological master factor in modulating the ecospace. ⺠An ecospace-occupation model for Miocene carbonate biofacies is presented. ⺠Cyclic sedimentary patterns point to low-amplitude sea-level fluctuations.
