Abstract
► Quantitative data on calcareous nannofossils from Site 980/981 through 583-1138 kyr. ► Nannofossil changes have been compared with other paleoceanographical proxies. ► Assemblages varied in relation to sea surface water temperature, nutrient and sea-ice. ► Deep and intermediate water production also controlled nannofossil changes. ► Complex relations exist between environmental parameters and taxa evolution/ecology.
