Abstract
⺠Sedentary stork nestlings were used for the first time to show local mercury contamination of Pantanal. ⺠Differences were found among regions but they are not explained only by distance from the gold mining. ⺠Permanently flooded areas and areas along mainstream rivers are more contaminated than dry areas. ⺠Mercury has been biomagnified in Pantanal and it is found in high concentrations in top consumers.
