Abstract
► Thin asymmetric membranes made of doped ceria by tape casting have been prepared. ► At high pO2, the permeation is mainly controlled by the ambipolar conductivity of the ceria layer. ► The membrane performance was unaltered when the sweep gas contains 15% CO2. ► The highest permeation rate (ca. 5 ml min−1 cm−2 at 1000 °C) was achieved using methane (15%) sweep.
