Abstract
⺠This paper is written to be the paper of choice for anyone seeking a comprehensive guide to the application of scattering methods to porous materials. ⺠A combination of ultra small angle X-ray scattering (USAXS) and ultra small neutron scattering (USANS) yields pore size and strut size of porous materials. ⺠Combined data from USAXS and USANS also give the strut skeletal density and the strut composition. ⺠Different analysis approaches can be used depending on information known about the membrane sample. These approaches are illustrated. ⺠Pore chords are in good agreement with the scanning electron microscopy estimates but are larger than the manufacturer's nominal pore size.
