Abstract
► In most cases, waste gasification is implemented as a “two-step oxidation” process. ► Two-step oxidation achieves only few of the potential advantages of gasification. ► Its energy performances are somewhat lower than those of conventional WtE plants. ► Notable potential benefits are better quality of solid residues and better control. ► “Full” gasification schemes suffer from very challenging, still unresolved issues.
