Abstract
⺠A low-cost and biodegradable oil absorbent based on kapok fiber was prepared. ⺠The polymer-coated kapok fiber showed higher oil sorption capacity. ⺠Coated kapok fiber can be reused and the absorbed oil can be easily recovered. ⺠Adsorption of oil is spontaneous and exothermic physisorption and chemisorption.
