Abstract

âº We analyzed Î´13C, Î´15N and Hg in hair from Japanese whale meat-eaters and non-eaters. âº The Î´15N and Î´13C values in whale meat-eaters were higher than those in non-eaters. âº The Hg concentration in whale meat-eaters was higher than that in non-eaters. âº A positive correlation was seen between Î´15N and Hg in whale meat-eaters. âº Consumption of whale meat may increase Î´15N, Î´13C and Hg in the scalp hair.
