Abstract
⺠The antibiotic resistance profile of enterococci and E. coli from Azores was examined. ⺠High percentages of antibiotic resistance were found in enterococci isolates. ⺠Seven enterococci isolates showed a multiresistant phenotype. ⺠Streptomycin resistance was observed in five E. coli isolates. ⺠Bacterial antibiotic resistance represent a potential risk factor in marine ecosystems.
