Abstract
⺠Mugil cephalus is a popular choice in biomonitor studies, globally. ⺠A review shows most studies focused on human exposure implications. ⺠Fish were safe to eat in many places, but problems exist in heavy industry regions. ⺠Major inconsistencies exist among studies, highlighting a need for standardisation. ⺠Recommendations will achieve benchmarking and cross-continent comparisons.
