Abstract
► Caged mussels were used to monitor the effects of a submarine outfall discharge. ► Chemical and biomarker analyses were performed. ► Outfall discharge did not alter contaminant levels except for 4-tert-octylphenol. ► Biomarkers indicated a stress situation after 90 days in control and exposed mussels. ► Outfall discharge was not proved to be harmful to caged mussels.
