Abstract
⺠Many ecosystem assessments use inadequate data on non-target organisms. ⺠These include small-sized organisms (<1 mm) such as meiofauna. ⺠To date, meiobenthic research has largely failed to underpin ecosystem management. ⺠Future research will exert influence if it is relevant to 'big picture' questions.
