Abstract
⺠Prior to and following hurricanes Wilma and Emily trace metals were determined in seagrass. ⺠Contaminated Nichupte Lagoon contained high Pb prior to hurricanes and background levels following hurricanes. ⺠Pre hurricane biota sediment accumulation factors (BSAF) were all higher in leaf than rhizomes. ⺠Both Fe and Zn increased following hurricanes. ⺠Hurricanes may be beneficial to seagrass ecosystem if not physically disturbed.
