Abstract
⺠We followed gametogenesis and steroid hormone levels in corals from polluted sites. ⺠Evidence for accumulation of hormones was found in coral tissues in polluted sites. ⺠Corals exposed to acute pollution failed to complete gametogenesis. ⺠Corals exposed to chronic pollution did not show gametogenic disruption. ⺠Adaptation/physiological adjustment processes potentially enhance coral tolerance.
