Abstract
												⺠Baseline of beached marine debris established for Sand Island, Midway Atoll. ⺠About 3/4ths of debris was pieces/fragments; about a quarter was identifiable items. ⺠Plastic pieces were composed primarily of polyethylene and polypropylene. ⺠Identifiable items were from fishing/shipping and beverage/household products. ⺠Sites facing the North Pacific Gyre had the most debris.
