Abstract
► Halogenated natural products have been detected in marine mammals from Australia. ► A polybrominated compound was detected in seagrass, the main feed source of dugongs. ► The structure was verified by synthesis to be 2,3,4,5-tetrabromo-1-methylpyrrole (TBMP). ► The potential natural product was detected in passive water samplers from Australia. ► Highest concentrations of TBMP were determined in fish fillet from Chile.
