Abstract
⺠Metal contamination was not significant in the eastern coastal areas of the Red Sea. ⺠Contrasting differences in metal concentrations were found among different species of sponges. ⺠Sponges act as a promising biomonitor of metal contamination in the Red Sea coastal areas.
