Abstract
⺠Elimination of toxic biocides from antifouling (AF) paints is unlikely in the near future. ⺠We currently lack an effective AF replacement. ⺠The costs of eliminating toxic biocides may outweigh the impacts of current AF strategies. ⺠We recommend gradual introduction of restrictions to allow development of non-toxic strategies.
