Abstract
•Sewer headspace VOCs are generally unlikely to be a significant odours contributor.•VSCs were dominated by hydrogen sulfide, followed by methyl mercaptan and sulfides.•VSCs are expected to be odorous and a significant contributor to sewer odours.•A methodology to prioritise odorants was developed and demonstrated.•VSCs were the dominant priority odorants.
